INFORMATION ABOUT IDAHO AUTO INSURANCE
Idaho Auto Insurance
The Idaho DMV and Idaho Department of Insurance describe the following coverage types.
Liability Insurance
Car insurance for individuals must meet certain coverage requirements. Minimum liability coverage is $25,000 for a single injury/fatality, $50,000 for multiple injury/fatality and $15,000 for property damage.
Medical Payments
This coverage is defined as the amount the insurance company agrees to reimburse passengers for medical or burial expenses incurred as the result of bodily injury or accidental death, regardless of the insured’s legal responsibility. It will also cover family injury caused while walking or while riding in another auto.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist
According to Idaho Insurance Code §41-2502, liability insurance must provide coverage for uninsured motorists with the limits required by Idaho Code §49-117. The insured has the right to reject this coverage in a written statement. This coverage protects those who have sustained bodily injury caused by an uninsured motorist.
Idaho has no requirement for property damage coverage, only for bodily injuries. It is wise to ask the insurance carrier about uninsured motorist coverage for property damage. The premium for this coverage is usually quite low.
